2013 Summer School
Shawsheen Valley Technical High School will conduct its fifteenth annual Summer Academic Makeup Program—offering makeup courses in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and Physical Education—beginning Monday July 8 and ending Thursday July 25 at the Burlington Middle School. The program is open to any student in Grades 7-12. The morning session runs from 8-11 AM; the afternoon session, from 11:20 AM-2:20 PM. Unfortunately, no transportation, lunch, or financial aid is available.
The objectives pursued by the certified Summer Academic Makeup Program staff are aligned with those identified by the Massachusetts Frameworks learning standards in the respective academic disciplines. However, the courses are not intended to supplant the more rigorous, full-time instruction offered during the regular school year. Students are subject to the academic policies established by their schools and should consult with local officials (principals or guidance counselors) to identify minimum eligibility and passing standards. It is the responsibility of students and parents to ensure that students are enrolled in appropriate courses.
*Students may only enroll in Session Two courses in U.S. History and the World, World Cultures, World History, Civics, and Social Studies when a student has a schedule conflict in a Session One course. Other exceptions will be made on an individual basis.
