Free 300-hour Welding Program for Adults

Shawsheen will host a free 300-hour Welding Program this summer with MassHire and NAMC. This Metal Fabrication and Welding program provides 300 hours of hands-on practical training in a welding shop, at no cost to the student enrolled (*see eligibility requirements). The curriculum covered in this course meets the American Welding Society (AWS) guidelines, and results in the OSHA-10 and Hot Work Safety credential. The course is for beginners with no previous experience in welding, and prepares students to obtain, at minimum, entry level positions in the Advanced Manufacturing (Welding) industry after completing the program.
Topics Include: Technical Math and Welding Applications, Blueprint Reading and Welding Symbols, Oxygen Acetylene Welding and Oxygen Fuel Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding, Advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Nonferrous Metals, GTAW-DC Stainless Steel, Basic fabrication and tackling of structural alloys with proper use of tools and equipment, Aluminum MIG, Alloys and Filler Rod.

*Eligibility Requirements: Unemployed or underemployed, must have a H.S. Diploma or GED/HiSet, and be 18 years of age by the start of the program (July 4, 2023).
