Out of an abundance of caution, Shawsheen Valley Technical High School will be closing for one week starting on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Dear Shawsheen Students, Families, and Staff,
Out of an abundance of caution, Shawsheen Valley Technical High School will be closing for one week starting on Monday, March 16, 2020. Although there have been no confirmed or presumptive cases of Covid-19 associated with the Shawsheen Community, we have made the decision to close down for one week in an effort to support recommendations regarding social distancing and to clean and disinfect our entire facility. There will be no extra-curricular events or activities after school today, Friday, March 13, or during the closure next week.
We recognize that the closing of school can pose struggles for some students/families experiencing economic hardship. We encourage families with concerns about the impact of the closure to reach out to my office regarding assistance that may be available during this time.
Recognizing that our students don’t have equal access to the necessary resources, we will not be assigning or requiring students to complete school-work during the closure. Students on co-op can make the decision individually, in communication with their co-op employers, regarding whether they will report to their co-op jobs next week or not. Please note that students are not required to report to co-op and will not be penalized if they decide to stay home.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely over the next week, and make any future decisions in accordance with advice from public health and government officials.
Best,
Jessica Cook
