Principal's Update - December 18th 2020
Dear Shawsheen Students, Parents/Guardians, and Colleagues,
Thank you to everyone for making our first Remote Learning Day (that was in lieu of a snow day) a success! We had an impressive 94.48% student daily attendance rate - which speaks volumes about the commitment of our students, as well as the effort our educators have put in to engage them. To date this school year, our average student daily attendance rate is 96.29%, which is something to celebrate in the midst of a pandemic. For comparison, our average student daily attendance rate for the 2019-2020 school year was 96%.

Wednesday, December 23, 2020 - Half-Day (Asynchronous for Academics)
Next Wednesday will be an early release day for students, which means that:
- Grade 9 & 11 students who are in shop next week must be in shops by 7:39am for 1st period attendance, and will be dismissed at 10:43am.
- Grade 10 & 12 students will be asynchronous but, since it is a half-day, they will follow the half-day asynchronous remote academic schedule below:
- 7:39am = log into 1st period for daily attendance
- 8:00am - 9:00am = report to office hours as needed (all departments)
- 9:00am - 10:43am = independent work time
Reminder: Out-of-State Travel Order
With the holiday break approaching next week, we want to remind everyone that any students who travel out of the state must comply with the state's COVID-19 Travel Order. I encourage you to read the official requirements from the travel order and to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Reminder: Flu Shot Requirement
Just a friendly reminder from the School Nurses that an influenza immunization is required by the state for all students. The new state-wide vaccine requirement is an important step to reduce flu-related illness and the overall impact of respiratory illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are expected to have received a flu vaccine by December 31, 2020 for the 2020-2021 influenza season, unless either a medical or religious exemption is provided. Please provide the proper documentation to the Nurses’ Office via paper, fax, or email when your student is vaccinated. Thank you for your cooperation!
Best,
Jessica Cook
