Principal's Update - April 14th 2023

Dear Shawsheen Students, Parents/Guardians, and Colleagues,

Please join me in congratulating our students who earned High Honors and Honors for the third term! We are proud of these students as this recognition reflects the effort and dedication they have put into both their academic and CTE courses. To be eligible for High Honors, a student must receive no grade lower than an “A” for every course in which they are enrolled. To be eligible for the Honor Roll, a student must receive a minimum grade of “B” for every course in which they are enrolled. The full list of students being recognized can be viewed at the following link: Quarter Three Honors & High Honors - 2022 - 2023 School Year.

"Courage to Remember" Exhibit at Shawsheen Tech After April Vacation

In honor of Genocide Awareness Month, SVTHS is pleased to display the “Courage to Remember” Exhibit in our school library during the week of April 24th. Originally developed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the exhibit consists of a 40-panel visual narrative that tells the story of the Holocaust. This exhibit, along with the connected curriculum, complies with the Massachusetts Genocide Education Act and Shawsheen’s commitment to promoting an informed and inclusive community.

Universal Mental Health Screening for 9th Grade Students

The following information was originally shared by the Shawsheen Guidance Department:

Beginning on May 8, 2023, in our continuing efforts to support the well-being of all our students, we will be administering a universal screener of social, emotional & behavioral health to our 9th grade students. Shawsheen will use the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 (BIMAS-2) which is a research-based screening tool. We believe this will help all our students thrive academically and vocationally by identifying students who may benefit from additional social and emotional supports and interventions, much like some students benefit from additional academic supports and interventions. Please follow links below for more information:

If you would like to opt your 9th grade student out of the screening, please complete the Opt-out form below by Thursday May 4, 2023.
