Guest Speaker for Seniors on Monday, May 8

The following message was originally shared by our Academic Director, Danica Johnston:

On Monday, May 8, 2023, all seniors will attend a guest speaker presentation given by Paulette Buchheim, the daughter of German Jewish Holocaust survivors. Paulette’s father’s family left Germany in 1939 and escaped to Bolivia. Her mother’s family was sent to a Ghetto in Riga Latvia and eventually was sent to Stutthof Concentration Camp.

Everyone whose family has survived the Holocaust has a unique story. Paulette has recently been to Germany where she shared her family’s story with high school students from her grandmother’s hometown.  We are honored to have her speak at Shawsheen and look forward to hearing her story.

NHS/NTHS Students Support Local Non-Profit

The following message is from Shawsheen's NHS/NTHS faculty advisor, Mr. Rob McIsaac:

Juniors and seniors in National Honor Society (NHS) and National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) made toiletry donations throughout April on behalf of HELPIS. HELPIS is a non-profit organization out of Burlington with a mission of providing goods and services to those in need. Through generous student donations, over 425 products were collected and disseminated on Wednesday to HELPIS’ founder, Joyce Deliyiannis. Joyce was blown away at the generosity and kindness of Shawsheen’s students. A special thanks to Shawsheen’s NHS/NTHS President Michaela Vittum for coordinating the “Dignity Drive” and creating the relationship between Shawsheen and HELPIS.”
