Principal's Update - Friday, November 3rd 2023

Dear Shawsheen Students, Parents/Guardians, and Colleagues,

Parent/Guardian-Teacher Night will be held in-person at Shawsheen Tech on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Conferences will be limited to five minutes each to help ensure everyone's access to all of the educators they wish to meet. You are encouraged to schedule follow-up meetings with educators if longer conversations are required. Appointments will be offered (on a first-come, first-served basis) from 5pm - 8pm for all educators except for vocational teachers, who will have appointments offered from 6pm - 8pm. Please note that you have to register for conferences in advance. Registration information and registration links were sent to parents/guardians at 6pm yesterday via email and text. Please refer to those communications if you have not done so already. Registration will end by 5pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Quarter 1 grades close today and quarter 1 report cards will be published in Aspen by the end of next week.

2023/2024 Winter Sports Registration is Open - Click Here to Register

The following message is from the SVTHS Athletics Department:

All Student-Athletes interested in playing a Winter sport MUST register through Arbiter by Wednesday, November 22nd. All student-athletes must have a current physical uploaded to their Arbiter account.

Student-Athletes MUST also complete the following two Concussion Protocols: NFHS Concussion in Sports Course (you do not need to turn in the certificate of completion) and ImPACT Baseline Concussion Test. The ImPACT test must be completed prior to tryouts by all NEW students (9th graders & transfer students) as well as RETURNING 11th graders and any athlete who has not completed it in previous seasons .

Reminder: Universal Mental Health Screening (BIMAS-2) for 9^th grade students

The following information was originally shared by the SVTHS Guidance Department:

In our continuing efforts to support the well-being of our students, we will be administering a universal screener of social, emotional & behavioral health to our 9th grade students during the week of November 13th. Shawsheen will use the Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System-2 (BIMAS-2) which is a research-based screening tool. We believe this will help all our students thrive academically and vocationally by identifying students who may benefit from additional social and emotional supports and interventions, much like some students benefit from additional academic supports and interventions. Reminder: Help Spread the Word - SVTHS Annual Open House is THIS SUNDAY from 2pm-4pm

Shawsheen Valley Technical School is excited to extend an invitation to all community members for its annual Open House on November 5, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This event is in-person and open to anyone interested in discovering the offerings of the Shawsheen Valley Vocational Technical School District. Prospective students, alumni, community members, business partners, and family and friends are encouraged to attend. The Open House serves as a comprehensive showcase of Shawsheen's diverse academic, career, and vocational-technical programs, as well as highlight our remarkable athletic teams. Additionally, an array of enriching extracurricular clubs and activities will be on display. This self-guided event will empower participants to explore the stunning Shawsheen campus while attending interactive demonstrations in both academic and vocational programs.
