Announcing the 2025-2026 Parent/Legal Guardian School Council Representatives

Three parents/guardians signed up to fill the three positions on the School Council for Parent/Legal Guardian Representatives. Since the number of candidates matches the number of open positions, we will not be holding an election. You can learn more about each of the representatives by reading the information below. Please join me in thanking them for volunteering their time to the School Council this year!

Kristen Baker, Burlington

I am a mother of 6 from Burlington. My son is currently a junior at Shawsheen in the Plumbing program as well as an athlete. I was honored to serve on school council for the last 2 years and got to see some of the inner workings of policy making in the school. I am the Early Childhood Director and part of the lead administrative team at a local private school. As a former teacher and current administrator, I feel I am able to appreciate all of the different opinions in the room, as well as having the knowledge and experience in what it takes to create and implement policies in a school setting. I love Shawsheen and promote it as much as I can to anyone that will listen. The genuine care the members of the school council have for the entire Shawsheen community is one that I find rare! I would love another year to work with this team and help accomplish some of the goals we have been working towards for the last few years.

Dina Castiglia, Tewksbury

I would love the opportunity to be on the school council again. I learned so much when my son was a freshman about how the school works. I believe my input would be valuable. As a real estate broker for nearly 30 years in business, I believe giving back to the community makes a huge difference for our kids. I have been on a school council in every school that my son has been in from kindergarten until last year, and I'm now ready to throw my hat back into the ring.

Emily LaMacchia, Billerica

I’m the parent of a freshman at Shawsheen Tech, and I’m excited to run for a seat on the SVTHS School Council. With over nine years of experience in affordable housing management, including leadership roles at multiple housing authorities, I bring a deep understanding of public service, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement. My professional background includes overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets, managing capital improvement projects, and advocating for underserved populations. I’m passionate about equity, transparency, and ensuring that every student has access to the resources they need to succeed. As a council member, I would work to strengthen communication between families and the school, support inclusive decision-making, and help foster a positive, forward-thinking environment for all students. I’d be honored to represent the voices of parents and guardians during this important year.

Freshman Guidance Meetings - Class of 2029

Starting Monday, September 22, Grade 9 students will begin meeting in group settings with their guidance counselors, Mr. Smith and Ms. LeBlanc, to begin developing their individual academic and career plans.

The first lesson will focus on goal setting in the areas of academic growth, social-emotional development, and career exploration.

Throughout the year, students will participate in a series of guidance lessons that include:

  • Resume and employment application development

  • Identifying strengths and connecting them to career interests

This curriculum is designed to support students in building a strong foundation for both academic and career success, while also helping them make informed decisions regarding shop selection in the spring.
