Dear Shawsheen Students, Families, and Colleagues,
It was great to welcome students back into the building this week to kick off the 2026-2027 school year! We held class meetings for each grade-level on Tuesday to review school safety procedures, Student Handbook changes, and expectations for this school year. Links to those presentations are provided below. Students have been doing an excellent job with our new cell phone policy, and we are excited to see increased focus from students during class, and a marked increase in students socializing with one another during lunches, as a result of the new bell-to-bell cell phone ban. We applaud our students for complying with this new expectation and know they are building important (and in-demand) employability skills in the process.
No School on Friday & Monday – Return on Tuesday to a Week 2 Schedule
Please remember that there is no school tomorrow, Friday, September 4 or Monday, September 7. We will return to a Week 2 schedule on Tuesday, September 8.
Attention Freshmen: when you come to school on Tuesday, you will be in Exploratory Cycle 1. Please check your schedule to see which shop you will explore. Make sure you carefully read the information on the following document so you know what to wear and bring for the shop you are assigned to next week: Exploratory - What to Wear & Bring. It is important that you wear appropriate clothing and footwear and bring everything you need. The school will be providing students with safety glasses.
Grade 10 & 12 Picture Day is on Tuesday, September 8

The Shawsheen Valley Technical High School (SVTHS) School Council is charged with five major areas of responsibility, which are to assist the Principal in:
Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards.
Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school.
Reviewing the annual school building budget.
Formulating a school improvement plan.
Reviewing the student handbook each spring to consider changes in disciplinary policy to take effect for the following school year.
Procedures for Dropping Off Medications to the School Nurses’ Office
To ensure the safety of all students and allow the Nursing Office to provide timely care throughout the school day, we kindly ask that medication and required documentation drop-offs be scheduled in advance.
Please contact the Nursing Office at nurses@shawtech.org to schedule an appointment. Parents/guardians are asked to reserve adequate time for the check-in process. This process includes reviewing required documentation, verifying medication orders, and ensuring medications are properly labeled and secured according to school policy.
Students may not bring medications to school for drop-off purposes. The only exception is medication approved for student self-carry, such as authorized inhalers or EpiPens. All other medications must be delivered directly to the Nursing Office by a parent/guardian during a scheduled appointment and in the original pharmacy-labeled container.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain a safe, secure, and efficient health office for all students. For required forms and additional health information, please see the link below:
Sincerely,
Jessica Cook
