The election for the three SVTHS School Council Parent/Legal Guardian Representatives ends on Monday, September 21, 2026. Election results will be shared on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and the first SVTHS School Council meeting will take place in the School Committee Room at 2:15pm on Wednesday, September 23.
Only parents/legal guardians of current SVTHS students are eligible to vote in this election. If you are eligible to vote and have not already done so, please use the links below (initially shared via email on Monday, September 14, 2026) to learn more about the candidates, and to cast your vote. All votes will remain confidential.
2026-2027 SVTHS Student Cabinet & Student Representative to the School Committee
The following message was originally sent to students on Monday, September 14, 2026:
The Shawsheen Valley Technical High School (SVTHS) Student Cabinet is a representative group of Shawsheen students who meet regularly throughout the school year with the Principal to provide feedback and speak on behalf of the students at Shawsheen. Meetings will take place at 2:15pm on the dates arranged. The students in this group elect the Student Representative to the School Committee. The Student Representative to the School Committee is expected to attend monthly School Committee meetings (the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm) and provide a report to the School Committee at each meeting.
All students interested in serving on the SVTHS Student Cabinet for the 2026-2027 school year must submit the 2026-2027 SVTHS Student Cabinet Application by Sunday, September 27, 2026. Students will be notified by the beginning of October if they have been selected to be on the Student Cabinet or not. If more students apply than the number of spaces available, we will select students to create a representative group reflective of the Shawsheen student body based on student demographics, sending town, grade-level and vocational/technical program.
SVTHS Will Be Serving Student Lunches on Half-Days
Starting next Friday, September 25, 2026, SVTHS will be scheduling lunch blocks for all students on half-days. Please note the following regarding lunches on half days:
Due to limited timing, we will have four lunch blocks on half-days instead of five.
Students must have their ID cards and learn their pin numbers to help lines move quickly.
To keep the lines moving, all four lunch lines will be open, but the same food will be served in all four lines.
Each student will report to lunch for one period instead of the class they are assigned to that period. Click on the following link to see which blocks students will report to for lunch on Friday, September 25 based on their grade and/or shop: September 25, 2026 Half-Day Lunch Schedule.
Please note, each half-day will have a different lunch schedule so that students don’t always miss the same classes. Schedules will be shared before each half-day.
ATTENTION SENIORS! Cap & Gown Orders Due by Friday, November 6, 2026
Orders for graduation cap & gown packages must be placed with Jostens by Friday, November 6, 2026, and senior families will start receiving emails from Jostens about this next week. There are a number of package options to choose from when placing your order. Students and families are welcome to order any packages they would like, but the only items that are required for the graduation ceremony (gown, cap, tassel, and stole) are all included in the option labeled "Graduation Kit Cap, Gown, Tassel" at a cost of $39. School Photo Orders and Make-Up Day Information
School pictures are now available to order! Please use the link below to purchase your child's photos: Shawsheen 2026-2027 Pictures.
A photo retake day will take place on Tuesday, November 17. Students without photos will automatically be scheduled to have their photos taken that day. If you want your student to re-take their photo, more information on how to sign up for will be shared at a later date. If you have any questions or need assistance for anything photo related (including ordering photos), please reach out to Smile-Pro directly.
Reminder: Join Us NEXT THURSDAY for Our Annual Parent/Guardian-Teacher Night ‘Meet & Greet!’
We invite all parents/guardians to join us on the evening of Thursday, September 24, 2026, for our 'Meet & Greet' Parent/Guardian-Teacher Night. We ask parents/guardians to arrive by 5:50pm and report immediately to their starting locations since the schedule will begin promptly at 6pm. The evening will run until 8pm. During the two-hour event, parents/guardians will attend a grade-level presentation, follow their student's Thursday academic week schedule to meet teachers, and report to their student's shop to meet with the shop teachers (grades 10-12 only). When you arrive, your starting location will depend on your student's grade level:
Grade 9 = Cafeteria for presentation
Grade 10 = student's 1st period classroom (Thursday of academic week)
Grade 11 = student's shop
Grade 12 = student's 1st period classroom (Thursday of academic week)

Reminder: Aspen & ParentSquare Support for Parents/Guardians on September 24
Shawsheen's Ed Tech Department will be available in the school library from 4:30pm-8:00pm on the night of the Meet & Greet, Thursday, September 24, to provide support to families. Parents/guardians can also report to the library during that time to make Tech Insurance Fee payments as well.
Reminder: PSAT-11 (NMSQT) Registration – Class of 2028
The following message is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:
Registration for the PSAT-11 (NMSQT) is open through Friday, September 25. Grade 11 students should register during homeroom from 7:30-7:47 a.m. outside the Guidance Office.
Cost: $18 (check payable to Shawsheen Tech or exact cash preferred)
Exam Date: October 14
Location: Shawsheen Tech
Testing Time: 7:30 a.m. to 10:43 a.m.
The PSAT-11 is strongly recommended for all juniors as preparation for the SAT and for potential eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Guidance counselors reviewed PSAT-11 (NMSQT) information with Grade 11 students during classroom presentations. The PSAT-11 exam will be administered on October 14th at Shawsheen.
