 Next Friday, October 23 is a half-day for students. Students will be dismissed at 10:43am. Please review the information below for next Friday's half-day lunch schedule for students.

Half-Day Student Lunch Schedule – Friday, October 23, 2026

Please note the following regarding lunches on half days:

• Due to limited timing, we will have four lunch blocks on half-days instead of five.

• Students must have their ID cards and learn their pin numbers to help lines move quickly.

• To keep the lines moving, all four lunch lines will be open, but the same food will be served in all four lines.

• Each student will report to lunch for one period instead of the class they are assigned to that period. Click on the link above to see which blocks students will report to for lunch on Friday, October 23.

• Please note, each half-day will have a different lunch schedule so that students don’t always miss the same classes. Schedules will be shared before each half-day.

Winter Sports Meetings, Tryouts & Registration Information

The following message is from the SVTHS Athletics Department:

Winter Sports: Boys Basketball (Freshman/JV/Varsity), Basketball Cheer (JV/Varsity), Girls Basketball (JV/Varsity), Boys Hockey (JV/Varsity), Girls Hockey (Varsity), Swim (Co-ed JV/Varsity) & Wrestling (JV/Varsity)

Winter Sports Info Meetings: Any students interested in participating in a Winter sport should attend the sport specific informational meeting:

• Girls Basketball: Tuesday, October 20th in the Library – after school

• Wrestling:  Wednesday, October 21st in Room 115 – after school

• Boys Hockey: Wednesday, October 21st in the Auditorium – after school

• Boys Basketball: Thursday, October 22nd in the Cafe – after school

• Girls Hockey: TBD

• Swim: TBD

 Tryouts:

Tryouts for Winter Sports begin on Monday, November 30, 2026.

Cheer Tryout Info:

• Monday, November 30th – Friday, December 4th

• Location: Shawsheen Tech Café

• Time: 5:00pm – 7:00pm

2026-2027 Winter Sports Registration is Open -  Click Here to Register:

All Student-Athletes interested in playing a Winter sport; MUST register through Arbiter by Tuesday, November 24th. All student-athletes must have a current physical uploaded to their Arbiter account prior to tryouts. Tryouts Begin: Monday, November 30th   

Student-athletes are also required to complete the following two Concussion Protocols: 

• NFHS Concussion in Sports Course (you do not need to turn in the certificate of completion). If you completed the NFHS Concussion in Sports Course during the Fall season – you do not need to complete again.

• Baseline Concussion Test – Baseline Concussion Test must be completed by all NEW (9th graders & transfers) as well as 11th graders and any students new to athletics. The Athletic Trainer will complete the baseline test the first few weeks of the season.

Reminder: ATTENTION SENIORS! Important Yearbook Deadline Approaching!

The following message is from the SVTHS Yearbook Club:

Senior Portraits & Quotes for the 2027 Yearbook are Due: October 30*

Submit HERE (Must be submitted by the student) Photos should be a minimum of 4x6" 300ppi for best quality.

*If a student does not submit a photo by the deadline, their updated school photo will be used and their name will appear as it does in ASPEN.

Reminder: School Photo Retakes

A school photo retake day will take place on Tuesday, November 17. Students without photos will automatically be scheduled to have their photos taken that day. If you want your student to re-take their photo, please complete this form by Friday, October 23: Picture Retakes 2026 – Fill out form.

Reminder: Financial Aid Information Night for Juniors & Seniors

Attention Families of Shawsheen Juniors & Seniors: On Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 6:00-7:30PM, the SVTHS Guidance Department will host our annual Financial Aid Information Night in the school auditorium. Amy Goulter, Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Lasell University, will be presenting information regarding the financial aid process. The target audience for this event is parents/guardians, but students are welcome to attend. Parents of 12th graders will find it most helpful, but 11th grade parents are welcome to attend to get a head start on the process.

Reminder: ATTENTION SENIORS! Cap & Gown Orders Due by Friday, November 6, 2026

Orders for graduation cap & gown packages must be placed with Jostens by Friday, November 6, 2026, and senior families will start receiving emails from Jostens about this next week. There are a number of package options to choose from when placing your order. Students and families are welcome to order any packages they would like, but the only items that are required for the graduation ceremony (gown, cap, tassel, and stole) are all included in the option labeled "Graduation Kit Cap, Gown, Tassel" at a cost of $39.
