SVTHS National Honor Society (NHS) & National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Welcomed 26 new members!

Please join me in congratulating the 26 SVTHS students (listed in the link below) who were inducted into the SVTHS NHS & NTHS at our 36th annual induction ceremony earlier this week! SVTHS Students Recognized at Grade 9 & 10 Citizenship Night

Last week, we recognized grade 9 & 10 students who were recommended by their teachers to receive Citizenship Awards at our annual Citizenship Night for grade 9 & 10 students. Each faculty member was able to nominate just one student, and students were selected for being exceptional members of our school community who embody our core values of accountability, integrity, and respect. Please join me in congratulating those students (listed in the link below)!

Attention Juniors: Spring College Admission Representative Visits Scheduled March-April

The following message is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:

Beginning on March 9th and running through mid-April, the Guidance Department will be hosting college representatives here at Shawsheen for our junior students as part of our Spring College Representative Visit program.

These visits provide juniors with valuable opportunities to meet directly with college admissions representatives to learn about academic programs, career pathways, and post-secondary expectations. Many of the visiting colleges offer programs that align with the technical and career-focused areas students explore through their shop placements.

Students will be able to register for sessions through their Naviance accounts, and notifications about confirmed visits and registration details will also be shared through Naviance and Blackboard.

Representatives from a variety of two-year and four-year colleges will be visiting, giving students the opportunity to explore multiple post-secondary options that align with their interests and career goals.

If your student has any questions, please encourage them to contact their guidance counselor

MCAS Days Will Be Normal School Days This Year

For the past few years, we have switched around student schedules during MCAS Test Administration Days to accommodate our testing needs. This year, students (with the exception of sophomores) will follow their normal, full-day schedules on all MCAS days. Once sophomores complete MCAS testing each day, they will resume their normal schedules – we will not be approving early dismissals just because of MCAS testing. ELA MCAS is scheduled first, on March 24-25, 2026. Since that is a week 2:

  • Grade 12 students will follow their normal academic week schedules.

  • Grade 9 & 11 students will follow their normal shop week/exploratory schedules.

  • Grade 10 students will complete ELA MCAS testing and resume their normal academic-week schedules once they finish testing.

Reminder: Attention Sophomore Students and Families: PSAT-10 Registration Closes on March 20th

The following message is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:

There is NO cost to take the exam. Registration is first-come, first-served. Space is limited.

Exam Information: The exam will be held at Shawsheen Tech on April 8, 2026.

Testing time: 7:35–10:43 a.m. We encourage sophomores to register early to secure a spot.

Thank you, SVTHS Guidance Department
