• Sidney Tildsley, Lowell Sun - Male Wrestler of the Year

    Another sophomore who has already compiled one of the greatest two-year careers in state history, Tildsley wrapped up his season by taking second at the high school nationals to earn All-American honors. Last year he was named a NHSCA Freshman All-American.

    He finished the season with a 70-2 record, bringing his two-year total to 131-2. He became the only wrestler in Massachusetts to win New England titles during his freshmen and sophomore seasons. He is a two-time All-State, Division 1 Sectional, Division 1 state, state vocational and Lowell Holiday Tournament champion.

    Besides wrestling, he is an All-Scholastic quarterback on the football team who led the Rams to the Super Bowl this past fall.

    Brayton Carbone - 1st Team Lowell Sun All-Star

    Carbone is one of many talented underclassmen on the Rams’ squad. As a sophomore, he already has surpassed 100 career victories at 120 pounds. Before competing in the national tournament, he had a 58-7 record on the season.

    He is a two-time Division 1 North Sectional and state champion, and this year he added an All-State title as well. He was also a New England place finisher, a state vocational champion and earlier in the season a finalist at the prestigious Lowell Holiday Tournament.

    He was a key member of the Shawsheen football team that reached the Division 5 Super Bowl game last fall.

    James Tildsley - 1st Team Lowell Sun All-Star

    Last year while competing at Billerica High, Tildsley became the first grappler in state history to place at New Englands as an eighth-grader. This year, he switched schools and was dynamic on the mat for the Rams.

    At 132 pounds, he compiled a 64-4 record, which included winning the Lowell Holidays, the Division 1 North Sectional championship title for the second year in a row, and he took homethe D1 state title this year. He was also a state vocational finalist, a two-time All-State finalist and a two-time New England place finisher.

    This past fall, Tildsley led the football team in tackles and helped the Rams reach Gillette Stadium and play in the Super Bowl.

    Caleb Caceres - 1st Team Lowell Sun All-Star

    One of the veterans on the Rams’ squad, Caceres put together yet another strong season. He finished with an overall record of 50-9 at 145 pounds. He surpassed the 100-career win mark during the season.

    Caceres closed out the season as a two-time Lowell Holiday place finisher, a three-time Division 1 sectional place finisher, a two-time Division 1 state place finisher, an All-State place finisher, and earlier he captured the state vocational title.

    Like his three wrestling teammates on this all-star team, Caceres was a key component in the football team’s run to the Super Bowl.
