The Athletic program at Shawsheen has and will continue to be an important part of the Shawsheen Tech. experience. The rewards associated with participating in athletics cannot be overemphasized.

Our goal is to provide each enrolled student an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sport, and the principles of fair play.

There are more than 95 championship banners proudly displayed in our gymnasium. We offer 20 varsity and 15 sub-varsity sports. We are proud of our outstanding coaching staff and tremendous athletic facility. Each year hundreds of student-athletes share in that pride as well.

Message to Student-Athletes from our Athletic Director:

These are difficult and unprecedented times for everyone. I know all student-athletes are disappointed (Tough Times Never Last – Tough People Do).

It will be a shorted Spring sports season but everyone needs to be ready to play when it does begin.

Here are some tips you can follow to ensure you will be ready for when the Spring sports season begins.  This goes for all Spring sports.

Make healthy choices in what you eat and drink (eat to train and compete)

    Get creative with your workouts

    • Stretch before and after every workout
    • Cardio Workouts (recommended 5 times/week)
    • Plyometric Workouts
      • Walk out your front door and take a run
      • Create a 10x10 space in your backyard or driveway for your designated workout space
    • Core Training
      • Work in an ab workout to your daily workout (recommended 4-5 times/week)
    • Strength Training
      • If you have weights – utilize them
      • If you don’t have weights – do body weight exercises (such as push-ups, chin-ups, squats, etc)

All the workouts mentioned above can be done without a gym, playing field, track or playground.
