Dear Shawsheen Students, Parents/Guardians, and Colleagues,
Quarter 3 grades have been finalized and posted. Quarter 3 report cards, quarter 3 failure letters, and year-to-date failure letters have all been published and are available to view under the 'Published' section on the main page when you log into your Aspen Family Portal Account. We will issue honor roll information separately in the next week or so to recognize the achievements of students who earned Honors and High Honors based on their quarter 3 grades.

The following information is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:
11th and 12th graders wishing to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), which is the armed services entrance exam, will have the opportunity to take it in school on the morning of May 16, 2023. The guidance department will begin distributing the registration forms the week of April 10th. A parent/guardian signature is required on the registration form.
Reminder: Free Math and Biology MCAS Prep over April break

Students who attend will receive a 100-point test grade in the subject area of the workshop and will be entered to win raffles.

Student Parking Reminders
As a reminder, students cannot park on campus unless they have a SVTHS student parking permit for the 2022-2023 school year, and students with parking permits must park in their assigned spaces. Any student interested in a parking permit or with questions about parking permits can contact the Dean's office for more information.
Summer Work and Volunteer Opportunities with the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)
The following information was recently shared by the MA Department of Elementary & Secondary Education:
The state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has upcoming opportunities that may be of interest to students and people available for seasonal work:
- Park Serve Day: Park Serve Day, when volunteers get involved in a clean-up, painting, or other restorative project for one day at a park, forest, or beach, will be on Saturday, April 22 and is a great opportunity for middle and high school students to earn community service hours. For details and to register, please visit the Park Serve Day 2023 Eventbrite page. Anyone with questions about Park Serve Day is asked to email Matt Perry, manager of stewardship programs and statewide initiatives, at Matthew.S.Perry1@mass.gov.
- Lifeguards needed: The Department of Conservation and Recreation is recruiting lifeguard, pool and waterfront supervisors and other seasonal positions for the 2023 summer season. The Healey-Driscoll administration recently announced incentives to motivate early commitments from our lifeguard, pool and waterfront staff, included increased signing bonuses for those who submit a complete employment application for the summer season by Monday, May 1, increased salaries, and retention bonuses. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by time of employment, complete lifeguard training, and be certified in first aid and CPR. More information is at mass.gov/lifeguards.

Masshire Lowell Young Adult Career Center: Summer Experience Program
The following information was recently shared through the Middlesex District Attorney's Office:

Reminder: Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for 9th Grade Students
The following information was originally shared by the Shawsheen Guidance Department:
Starting on April 24, 2023, our school counseling and health staff will begin a health screening called SBIRT. SBIRT stands for Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment. SBIRT is used to screen for alcohol, nicotine, tobacco, and other drug use. This health screening is required by Massachusetts’ law.

If you would like to opt your 9th grade student out of the screening, please complete the Opt-out form below by Friday April 21, 2023. Your student may also opt out at the time of the screening.
