    Congratulations to the students we recognized during Wednesday evening's Citizenship Awards Night for grades 9&10. These students (listed below) were selected by their teachers to earn Citizenship Awards for being exceptional members of our school community who embody our school’s core values of accountability, integrity, and respect.     Help Spread the Word to Prospective Shawsheen Students

    If you know 8th graders in any of our sending communities, please help spread the word to them and their families about the two dates listed below:

    • Wednesday, January 17, 2024: SVTHS Open House for prospective students and their families from 6pm-8pm. All community members are invited.
    • Thursday, February 1, 2024: Application deadline for the Class of 2028. Click on the following link to apply: Student Admissions (go2cte.com). 

     

    Replacement Laptop Chargers and Pens Available for Purchase

    The following message is from the SVTHS Ed Tech Department:

    Any student who has lost their laptop charger or laptop pen can now purchase replacements for these items at the Rams Pride School Store. The store is open every day during student lunches.

     

    Attention Juniors! Upcoming College Rep Visits

    The following information is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:

    The Shawsheen Tech Guidance Department will be hosting college admissions representatives throughout the month of January and February. College representatives will be available for small group question & answer sessions. Please check Naviance regularly as colleges are scheduling visits on an ongoing basis. 

     

    Sophomore Class Meeting & Registration for the PSAT 10

    The following information is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:

    There will be a Sophomore class meeting 1st period on Friday, January 19 in the cafeteria.  The meeting will provide students with information about concurrent enrollment courses, PSAT-10 registration/testing date, and upcoming events. For any sophomore interested in registering for the Tuesday, March 5 PSAT10, there will be in-person registrations available the week of January 22-26 during homeroom outside of the Guidance Office. *There is no fee to register for the exam.*

     

    Student Skills in Action

    Prior to winter vacation, students in the Auto Collision, Electrical, Graphic Communications, Metal Fabrication, and Plumbing programs worked together to design and build a gingerbread house and 12' candy canes for the Stone Zoo's annual "Zoolights."     Culinary Students Participate in MRE Challenge

    Prior to winter break, students in Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management competed in an in-house MRE challenge with 3 officers from the U.S. Army. Last Friday, Army representatives returned to Shawsheen to present students with awards. Go Rams!

     

    Reminder: Junior Parent/Guardian College & Career Information Night - January 17th from 5:30-6:30pm

    The following information is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:

    Parents/Guardians are invited to a presentation on Wednesday, January 17 from 5:30-6:30pm in the Shawsheen auditorium on post-secondary options for your student. The presentation will include post-secondary options such as licensure programs, military, 2-year & 4-year colleges/universities and employment. We will also discuss the junior year college timeline, main types of admission applications, the common app., SAT test dates, Naviance, Financial Aid overview, and upcoming events.

    Registration is not required; however, if you would please complete the form below it will help us plan accordingly:

    Reminder: FREE Rams Academy ELA MCAS Review During February Break

    Reminder: Senior College Planning Checklist

    The following information is from the SVTHS Guidance Department:

    The Shawsheen Tech Guidance Office created the following document: Senior College Planning Checklist as a tool to help you complete the steps required to apply to college. If you plan to apply to a 4-year college, please review the document and reach out to your counselor if you have any questions or need clarification. Counselors will be visiting students in Related to give a general overview of the college application process but a 1-1 appointment with your counselor is recommended.

     

    Reminder: College for Teens - Opportunities at Middlesex Community College

    The following information is from Middlesex Community College:

    Middlesex Community College is offering a College for Teens program for high school students this spring. Our Career Exploration programs are designed to give high school students real word perspectives for academic and career opportunities and the requirements needed to achieve their goals.  Upon successful completion, students can earn one (1) credit for each of these (15 hour) Interdisciplinary Seminars. Exploration courses are taught by MCC faculty.

    • 3/25/24-4/17/24   Med Lab Tech Career Exploration
    • 4/10/24-5/15/24   Business Career Exploration
    • Coming Summer 2024: Engineering/CAD & Public Service Career Exploration
