Costabile named Coach of the Year

  • Congratulations to our Head Football Coach, Al Costabile, on being named the winner of the 2022 Ohrenberger Coach of the Year Award from the Gridiron Club and Massachusetts High School Football Coaches’ Association. Coach Costabile received this prestigious award on Sunday, March 12th, during their banquet at the Burlington Marriot Hotel in Burlington, MA.

Coach Costabile, who also serves as Shawsheen Tech’s Athletic Director, led the Rams football team to this year's MIAA Division 5 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium before falling short to North Reading High School. His team finished the season with a remarkable record of 12-1 overall and captured another Commonwealth Athletic Conference title. This season also marked Coach Costabile's 200th career victory, a milestone which he earned on September 30th, 2022 in a win over Greater Lawrence Tech. Costabile is just the 55th coach in Massachusetts state history to achieve this milestone. Coach Costabile, a recent inductee into the Massachusetts High School Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame, was also named the "New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week" by the Patriots Foundation this past October.

The Gridiron Club is one of the oldest football associations in the country and is responsible for several nationally recognized honors in American sports.

    Go Rams!
